Hinges facing left (if right handed) hold the lighter downwards index and middle on the cap- thumb on the bottom. Squeeze the lighter open... take your middle finger behind the cap near the hinges and start turning the lighter between your fingers. Take the lighter between your ring and middle finger and ignite with your thumb. Close with the thumb or spin it close. Anyway you like....
